Ideal Standard toilet seat FAQ
How to fit an Ideal Standard soft close toilet seat
Here’s how you can install an ideal standard toilet seat in a few easy steps:
-
Insert sprung retainers onto the toilet pan: You will need to fit these through the toilet and secure them into place using a hinge pillar bolt.
-
Add metal washer and plastic washer to the hinge pillar bolts: Once you insert these, make sure that you tighten them (you will not need to use any tools for this, simply tighten with your fingers).
-
Insert hinge pins to the toilet seat
-
Place the toilet seat onto the hinges: This is to make sure that the hinges and seat are aligned with the toilet pan.
-
Remove the toilet seat but keep the hinges in place
-
Tighten hinge pillars to the toilet pan: You will need a screwdriver to complete this step!
-
Put the seat back in place: At this stage, you can tighten the hinge grub screws
-
Make sure your Ideal Standard toilet seat is securely attached to your toilet and you are finished!
How to remove an Ideal Standard toilet seat
If you need to replace your ideal standard toilet seat, you will need to remove your current toilet seat by taking off the hinge grub screws.
How to tighten Ideal Standard toilet seat
You can usually tighten an ideal standard toilet seat by tightening the grub screws or fittings. It may be necessary to tighten an ideal standard toilet seat if you notice that it is not performing as it usually does (for example, it may be closing too quickly and causing noise).
What is a soft close toilet seat?
A soft close toilet seat (such as the Ideal Standard soft close toilet seat) closes slowly, softly and in a controlled way in order to avoid any loud bangs or slams.
How do soft close toilet seats work?
The Ideal Standard soft close toilet seat features hinges which force the toilet seat to close by itself, slowly and softly.
What are the benefits of the Ideal Standard soft close toilet seat?
-
They prevent loud bangs or slams - so you don’t need to worry about accidentally dropping the toilet seat or cover from a height or making too much noise!
-
They reduce the risk of injuries - as they close softly and in a controlled way, the risk of trapping fingers between the toilet bowl and lid is reduced. This makes them ideal for use by young children and the elderly.
Can soft close toilet seats be repaired?
If you notice that your soft close toilet seat isn’t working as it should (i.e not closing slowly enough and making noise), you can usually repair the soft close toilet seats simply by adjusting its hinges.
