Lever bib taps FAQs
What is a bib tap?
A bib tap is a type of wall mounted tap with a faucet and spout that bends downwards, they’re often installed above basins requiring more clearance space and wash troughs. These Bristan lever bib taps feature practical 6 inch levers so users can easily operate them.
What is a bib tap used for?
Wall mounted lever bib taps are versatile and have many uses as they allow more clearance space between the tap and basin. It’s for this reason that lever bib taps are often used in healthcare settings, schools and by cleaners who require more space to fill cleaning equipment. You can find bib taps which are suitable for indoor or outdoor settings depending on your needs.
How do lever taps work?
Lever taps give users control over the flow of hot or cold water so that they can get the desired temperature using a single lever which is easy to use. When a user turns the tap on (by turning the lever) a screw rises which lifts the washer and allows water to run out of the tap’s spout after travelling up from the pipework.
How to fix a dripping lever tap
If your lever tap is dripping, you’ll want to fix it as soon as possible to prevent water wastage. The dripping could be caused by a damaged washer or ceramic cartridge. Here’s how you can fix a dripping tap:
-
Turn your water supply off.
-
Remove any decorative parts/knobs of the taps using a flathead screwdriver.
-
Remove the faucet handle and stem (this should either pop out or may need twisting off of the valve).
-
Check if any parts are damaged as well as the O-ring and washer - if these are damaged or feel loose, they should be replaced.
-
Reassemble your lever tap and turn the water supply back on to check if it’s working.
If you decide to replace your lever taps, our Bristan lever bib taps could be the perfect option as they have a modern, durable and easy-to-use design which is suitable for a range of environments.
