The Cistermiser Infrared Sensor Urinal Flush Control Valve automatically manages the supply of water to a urinal cistern. The Cistermiser PIR sensor detects movement within the washroom (at or near the urinals) and activates the solenoid valve allowing water into a urinal cistern. Pack includes the ceiling mounting kit.
The use of a petcock within a urinal flushing systems has been outlawed by schedule 2, section 9, and paragraph 25 of the Water Regulations. The new and accepted solution and advice is to install an approved urinal flush control with all auto-cisterns and urinals such as the Cistermiser infrared sensor urinal flush control valve.
PIR or passive Infrared urinal flush controls like the Cistermiser actually sense when a particular urinal or row of urinals is used, which is in contrast to a hydraulic valve which only senses when a washroom as a whole is used. This can provide further water savings over a standard hydraulic flush control valve and the infrared sensor Cistermiser has a hygiene cycle or janitorial flush function built in. If the sensor detects no occupancy within the washroom in 12 hour period it will automatically open the valve for 30 minutes to allow one flush of the cistern to rinse the urinals and pipe work. This reduces odours and the risk of blockages in wastes.
The solenoid assembly is plumbed on the water supply to the urinal cistern. The connection to the infrared sensor is made either by directly mounting the sensor module onto the solenoid or by using the floating socket supplied for a remote mounting. If mounted remotely, the sensor module may be surface mounted using a standard pattress box.
The sequence is designed to maximise the battery life of the Cistermiser, giving approximately 3 years life from one good quality set of batteries. Batteries not included. Also included is the Cistermiser 3 year product guarantee (upon product registration).
The flow rate of the water into the cistern is adjustable to maximise water economy. Generally this should be set so that the cistern flushes once every time the valve is opened. i.e. every 30 minutes during occupation. The solenoid is supplied with an interchangeable valve seat which is used to increase the flow to the cistern on low pressure supplies.
