Commercial Locker Locks for a Variety of Changing Rooms
Locker locks can vary in levels of security and suitability for different changing rooms. Our range of locker locks includes low-cost, budget options, right through to high-end, high-tech locks like our RFID Contactless locker lock.
Our commercial locker lock range is robust and designed to withstand most changing room environments. The standard range of locker locks can be used in primarily dry areas like schools and offices, but are unsuitable for wet changing areas such as swimming pools. We can provide alternative water-resistant versions of many of the locker lock styles for wet area changing rooms.
All locker locks will have a master key available for when immediate supervisory access or emergency access is necessary.
Types of Locker Locks
There are many locker lock types that we stock here at Commercial Washrooms, so it can be difficult to decide which lock type is most suitable for your changing room. The locker locks can range greatly in price and appearance, but it is also important to consider the needs of the locker users when choosing a locker lock.
Cam Locks
Cam locks are the most common type of locker locks. Cam locks are easy to use with a simple lock and key mechanism. The lock has a metal plate which is called the cam. It is attached to the core of the locking device and it rotates as the key is turned. The cam rotates between 90 to 180 degrees, locking and unlocking the locker door.
This type of locker lock is ideal for permanent users who will have their own key. It is a cost-effective solution for locations such as offices and schools.
Hasp and Staple Locks
Hasp and Staple Locks are another very popular and cost-effective locker lock type. When the lock is in the close position, a padlock can be fitted through it which stops the mechanism from being turned back, until the padlock is unlocked and removed.
This locker lock type is ideal for use in changing rooms where many users will require quick and easy access to a locker, such as gyms and swimming pools, as they can bring the padlock of their preference and attach it to the locker lock when needed.
Coin Return Locks
Coin Return Locks are a very popular locker lock choice for public changing rooms, such as in gyms or leisure centres where many users will require quick and easy access to a locker. This classic locker lock works by inserting a £1 coin into the lock which then locks the locker and releases the key. When the lock is later unlocked, the coin is returned to the user. So as not to rely on users carrying cash, tokens can also be used in place of a £1 coin.
Coin Retain Locks
Coin Retain Locks are the same as Coin Return Locks in their function. However, this locker lock will have a box attached to the back, meaning that when the lock is opened after use, the coin or token is deposited into the box. This can be used to create an additional income stream or to collect tokens for reuse.
Mechanical Combination Locks
Mechanical Combination Locks are a popular locker lock choice in many changing rooms. They usually have three or four-digit options for a user to set a password combination for. Once the combination number has been set, it is used to release the lock mechanism. With a standard four-digit lock, there are up to 10,000 unique combinations making this locker lock very secure.
Electronic Combination Locks
Electronic or Digital Combination Locker Locks work similarly to Mechanical Combination Locks, in that a combination number is entered to release the lock, however in case, an electronic keypad is used. As there are 10 possible numbers to use, this locker lock type can have over 10,000 unique combinations making this an even more secure option for your locker room. Another key feature of this locker lock is it can be set to ‘private mode’ in which the combination number is retained when the lock is opened or 'public mode’ where the combination is forgotten after each use.
RFID Locks
An RFID Lock is the most technological type of locker lock that we provide. It is an electronic lock that you access using credentials such as key fobs or key cards powered by RFID technology. RFID (radio frequency identification) technology uses electromagnetic fields to enable communication between two devices: tags and readers.
These locker locks are highly secure as there is no accessible point on the lock to pick or decode, and the ability to deactivate a key card if it is lost or stolen prevents unauthorised access. This makes them a great choice for lockers that may contain valuable items.
Public Mode Locks
When a locker lock is set in public mode, the locking system remains locked at all times, only allowing access when the correct code or key is entered. This provides controlled access at all times and an added layer of security. This locker lock type is essential in applications where ongoing individual access is required, such as employee lockers or asset security.
Private Mode Locks
When a locker lock is set in public mode, the locking system will, initially, be unlocked until a code is entered to engage the locking mechanism. This makes it ideal for environments where large amounts of people require quick access to an area, such as gyms and leisure facilities.
Scramble Mode Locks
Mechanical combination locks can be provided with a scramble feature to add an extra layer of security. They are often used with locker locks set in private mode, as once the lock is open or closed, the dials are automatically randomly scrambled to conceal the private combination.
