Commercial wall hung toilets for all sectors

Wall hung toilets are ideal for modern washrooms and can make the toilet cubicle look much bigger as the floor space is increased. Depending on what you’re looking for in a toilet, wall hung options can have the significant advantage of making your washrooms more efficient with their space (and leaving room for other things like showers and shower cubicles). It’s important to note that wall hung toilets need to be secured well, so a strong duct set will be required and should be professionally fitted. Moreover, if you are looking to install wall mounted toilets in a site that currently has close coupled, or back to wall toilets, then you may need to re-site your toilet waste pipes. If you’re unsure of whether this is the right sanitaryware option for you or would prefer toilets with a more traditional style, please feel free to contact us, and a member of our friendly team will be happy to offer their advice.

We also sell other wall hung sanitaryware such as wall hung basins, vanity units and wall hung disabled toilet packs if you’re refurbishing an accessible washroom.

Looking to refurbish your washroom? We can install commercial wall mounted toilets as part of our supply and fit service. If you would like to find out more about our services or have any questions about our products, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

FAQs

What is a wall hung toilet?

A wall hung toilet means that it's not supported from a base that meets the ground, but is physically attached to the wall behind the toilet in the way that a back to wall toilet is. This gives a floating effect (which is why they’re sometimes called ‘floating toilets’), making a washroom look incredibly modern and smart.

How high should a wall hung toilet be?

A wall hung toilet should be treated just like any other style of a toilet in your commercial washrooms. The recommended, universally given height for all types of toilet, including the seat, is 17 to 19 inches from the floor to the seat, so your toilets should generally be hung around this far off the ground for comfortable use.

How much weight can a wall hung toilet hold?

Typically, the weight capacity for a wall mounted toilet is around 226.8 kilograms (over 35 stone) so they are deemed to be safe and secure for use.

Are wall hung toilets safe?

Yes, wall hung toilets which are installed correctly are safe to use as they can accommodate users up to around 35 stone in weight. You can rest assured that the wall mounted toilets available here at Commercial Washrooms are of high quality, robust, secure and durable. That said, we strongly recommend only allowing a professional plumber to carry out installation.

How do wall hung toilets work?

A wall hung toilet has a toilet bowl fitted directly to a wall. It is supported by a frame which is mounted to the wall which enables it to hang from the wall and has a hidden cistern located behind a wall or duct panel.

In terms of flushing, wall mounted toilets will usually feature flush plates which are fitted to the wall above the toilet pan. To flush, a user simply needs to push a button. You can access the cistern by removing the flush plate. These easily lift off the wall, giving you access to the cistern behind the wall.

Are wall hung toilets practical?

Not only are they stylish, but wall-mounted toilets are very practical thanks to their extra floor space. This means you’ll have more room in your facilities. Still, it makes cleaning and maintaining your washroom much simpler as you won’t need to clean around a structure fixed to the ground with hard-to-reach areas, which will help to improve hygiene in your facilities.

Are wall hung toilets more expensive?

Wall hung toilets can be a little more expensive than other types of toilets as they involve more complex plumbing. That said, we offer products to suit all budgets here at Commercial Washrooms and you can order high quality commercial wall hung toilets for as little as £70 (excluding VAT).

Benefits of a wall hung toilet

To summarise the table above, wall hung toilets make a great choice for many domestic and commercial bathrooms for the following reasons:

  • They’re more space efficient - they’re great for small bathrooms as the floor space below them is left clear and isn’t taken up by the structure of the toilet. They’re also more compact with a short projection.

  • They’re easy to clean and maintain thanks to their simple design and clear floor space below, improving hygiene.

  • They’re more contemporary than other toilet options and appear as though they are floating.

  • Their toilet cisterns are hidden - the cistern for commercial wall hung toilets are typically hidden behind a duct set). Not only does this protect the integrated plumbing system from damage, but it also keeps your washroom looking modern, smart and tidy.

Can any bathroom have a wall hung toilet?

Wall hung toilets may not be suitable for all bathrooms depending on your available space - you’ll need space for your toilet cistern on the other side of the wall. Wall hung toilets will also require mounting frames to support them, so bathrooms that have stud walls are usually the best match for wall hung toilets (these may be constructed if they don’t already exist).

What is the best wall hung toilet for my needs?

With so many different styles of wall hung toilets, you want to ensure you make the right choice to find the best fit for your bathroom. You can consider the following:

  • Projection - wall hung toilets are a more compact option than many other types of toilets, but if you’re looking to maximise your bathroom space as much as possible, opt for a wall hung toilet with a shorter projection.

  • How modern your bathroom is - you can add a more contemporary feel by choosing a rimless wall hung toilet. Not only will these be easier to clean, but they also offer a more minimalist appearance.

  • Your budget - you’ll also need to factor your budget into your purchasing decision. Here at Commercial Washrooms, we have affordable options to suit all budgets.
