Leading Hampshire based computer company Novatech recently approached us to redesign and reformat its existing washroom facilities. Based in Portsmouth, the business has become renowned for building powerful bespoke gaming PCs and its work in computer systems and servers across a variety of public service sectors.
After a thorough design and specification process, we began transforming the layout of Novatech’s shower room and male washrooms. An alcove in a corridor was essentially dead space and by removing the walls behind it we were able to incorporate it into the existing shower room. This extra space allowed us to redesign the internal layout and build two private showering areas that included large format shower trays, glass shower enclosure doors, and Rada V10 concealed shower controls partnered with Bristan Overhead Soaker shower heads. Each showering area had a private changing space and heated towel rail, along with Altro Whiterock wall cladding and Altro Pisces anti-slip flooring.
In the men’s washroom, existing cubicles built from cumbersome studwork were removed to allow us to make better use of the internal space. Full height DUCT sets were installed for all the toilets and urinals along with solid grade laminate cubicles.
DVS sensor flush kits were used alongside the Twyford Spectrum urinals to deliver water-saving and hygiene benefits to the washroom. Within the cubicles, we installed Vitra S20 back to wall toilet pans, while at the hand wash area Franke Pureline self-closing taps were partnered with solid surface vanity tops with moulded washbasins.
A Karndean luxury vinyl floor tile completed the look and was chosen for its high durability and prestigious finish. Overhead, we installed a new suspended ceiling with acoustic tiles and integrated PIR lighting. This means the lights are activated on movement within the room, making them a great economical upgrade.
The existing layout needed little alteration over in the female washroom. While the same fixtures and sanitary ware were installed, we also installed a bespoke hand wash area that held an extended vanity space for freshening up.
As part of this refurbishment project, we also upgraded Novatech’s hot water system by installing a new 12-kilowatt boiler and 300-litre cylinder. Housed in a ground floor storage room, this new equipment delivered improved hot water provisions for all of the washrooms and showers.
Delivered on time and on budget, this project was a design-led refurbishment that the innovative computer company are incredibly happy with. All works were handled efficiently and carried out causing minimal disruption to the business’ daily operations.
