Malling Town Club Toilet Refurbishment - Case Study

Malling Town Club Toilet Refurbishment - Case Study

We were appointed by Malling Town Club to refurbish their men's washroom. The social club that sits just outside Maidstone, Kent has a loyal membership and a strong family-friendly community. As the coronavirus lockdown eased slightly in 2020, we were able to access the site early on and carry out these works in quick succession. Malling Town Club were looking for a modern, fresh and inviting men’s washroom that held strong durability and hygiene credentials.

After the swift removal of the existing washroom, our team installed an Altro Walkway anti-slip safety flooring. This vinyl flooring is laid and lapped up the wall to create a secure and safe material underfoot. The walls were then clad in Altro Whiterock sheets which boast powerful hygiene and easy clean properties. A new suspended ceiling was also installed, which housed a low energy LED lighting system.

The existing toilets were housed in purpose-built single stalls which we worked with to deliver a robust and private finish for users. At the rear of the stall, we fitted full height DUCT sets, a type of false wall that conceals all the pipework and cisterns. This is then clad in a highly durable solid grade laminate (SGL) with a light wood-grain finish. Back to wall toilets were installed, which deliver a sleek finish to the toilet space, coupled with push button flush controls

As part of the toilet refurbishment, we also replaced the door frames, architrave and door furniture, as well as new heavy-duty doors which were prepped, primed and painted to ensure a long-lasting and robust finish.

The urinals sat below a window, which flooded the room in natural light. Here we installed half-height DUCT sets with matching SGL panels and privacy partitions. For the urinals we fitted sensor activated flush controls, a water-saving and hygiene initiative that means the urinals are only rinsed when they have actually been used.

To maintain space and clear access to a store cupboard, a wall hung washbasin and pedestal was installed partnered with non-concussive push taps. These taps emit water for a set period of time, so remove the risk of taps being left on and help to conserve water.

A Biodrier Business hand dryer was installed and chosen for it’s Dyson Airblade-style operation and filters that help prevent germs from being spread around the room.

The completed washroom delivered the fresh, contemporary aesthetic Malling Town Club were looking for and helped transform their facilities into a low touchpoint, highly hygienic wash space ready for the club's members to return.
