Ashley Wood Golf Club Ladies Changing Rooms – Case Study

Commercial Washrooms Design Services were recently tasked with Refurbishing the Ashley Wood Golf Club Ladies Changing Rooms. During the design stage we spotted an opportunity to increase the usable area of the Shower and Toilet area – adding another Toilet and Shower whilst retaining and improving the existing Vanity area.

As part of the modernization, the Shower and Toilet area became a wet room with vinyl safety flooring for 3 Shower Cubicles and 3 Toilet Cubicles made from waterproof SGL. Cladding the Washroom in Altro Whiterock wall cladding made the rooms hygienic and easy to clean. Whiterock not only holds strong hygiene credentials, but also high fire ratings.

From start to finish Commercial Washrooms have been a pleasure to deal with. Thanks to all the team for their efforts in getting the project completed within the agreed timescales

Designed for Space

The expansion of the Shower and Toilet area was made possible by moving the Double Sink Vanity Unit out into the Changing area, replacing the existing Vanity area and utilising a bespoke Solid-Grade Laminate Underframe featuring hinged, lockable panels on the front of the Basin Vanity Unit. The vanity unit carried Corian, solid surface countertop with pre-formed Corian washbasins. Lever Taps and Soap Dispensers were used at the Washbasins with over lit individual mirrors above the unit.

The new Vanity area is design not to impose too much on the existing Changing Area and will look neat and modern for many years to come.

The Toilet Rooms were fitted with an IPS Duct System behind the toilet in Chene D’argent wood grain effect. An IPS Duct System is a unit that conceals all the pipework, waste and cistern in a false wall delivering a clean, minimalist finish. The cubicles were also upgraded with the same SGL panels in Chene D’argent wood grain effect veneer doors.

The Shower Cubicles were fitted with the popular Delabie Shower Panel – a neat solution for public Showers with an automatic shut-off delay after 30 seconds helping to save water. Each Shower Cubicle was constructed using Solid Grade Laminate, a material that’s completely impervious to water so will never swell or weaken from ingress water.

To finish off the project, we installed new radiators in the room, complete with chrome pipework to finish off the high-end look.

Ashley Wood Golf Club History

Ashley Wood Golf Club was built by Sir William Henry Smith-Marriott in 1896 after becoming bored with the usual leisure activities of the day. Ashley Wood was the fifth Golf Club to be formed in Dorset, following Bridport 1891, Isle of Purbeck 1892, Lyme Regis 1893 and Sherborne 1894.

The course was 2642 yards in length consisting of nine holes complete with grass bunkers. The course was laid out over historic countryside, including Buzbury Rings, an ancient ring fort, tumuli and defensive dykes all of which dated back to pre-Roman times. These ancient remains were incorporated into the layout in various ways and without doubt added to the difficulty of the course
